THE LIST: Great thoughts of George Bush - December 30, 2006

"I promise you I will listen to what has been said here, even though I wasn't here." - at the President's Economic Forum in Waco, Texas, Aug. 13, 2002 "We spent a lot of time talking about Africa, as we should. Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease." - Gothenburg, Sweden, June 14, 2001 "You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.'' - Townsend, Tenn., Feb. 21, 2001 "I glance at the headlines just to kind of get a flavor for what's moving. Dylan Liverpool 2001 Video - December 28, 2006

If you can get signed up for Dimeadozen, there are two amazing Dylan videos, from Liverpool July of 2001, in the torrentsphere now. Disk 1 is here and Disk 2 is here. I'm still downloading Disk 2 and have the torrent still open on Disk 1, but watched it tonight, and it's an excellent video of an excellent performance. The camera is steady, close and near, and the sound upgrade is fantastic. Plus Bob plays a great selection of songs -- This Wheel's On Fire, Visions of Johanna, 4th Time Around to.

Theme Time Christmas - December 24, 2006

Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Christmas is a great antidote for those suffering from too much Christmas music, and is fine listening. Do yourself a big favor and check it out. (At least listen to him reading The Night Before Christmas.) He has some pretty witty comments along the way, my favorite is when he mentions his atheist friend whose favorite Christmas movie is "Coincidence on 34th Street." Bob makes another strange comment when talks about Wally Schirra playing Jingle Bells on the...

Daily Kos: TOP 20 All-Time Stupid Republican Quotes - December 24, 2006

I feel the best way to ensure Americans' freedom is to tighten restrictions on that freedom in any way possible. Only through wiretaps, illegal searches and seizures, unfettered government intrusion, a controlled media and a complete crackdown on free speech can we ensure the liberties of all people." -- Attorney General John Ashcroft

GOP Bigot Eruption: Rep. Virgil Goode Hates Muslims - December 22, 2006

Once again, conservative Republicans have the courage to tell us what they really believe. Encouraged by our campaign for cons to speak truth to power, Rep. Virgil Goode says straight up how much he hates: In a letter sent out to select supporters earlier this month reacting to the controversy (among certain extreme conservatives, at least) over Muslim representative-elect Keith Ellison's (D-MN) decision to be sworn in on the Koran, Rep. Virgil Goode (R-VA) warned that the U.S. must close its..
