Travels with Erwin and AlexandriaJoin us on our travels here and abroad.(Untitled)- September 7, 2008 SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2008Usual morning routine. Found a good provider of fish at the Aligre market, so we now have our own fishmonger, baker, and cheese man. How French! Fish is expensive here. A good piece of salmon just for two of us came to about $16. It was good, though. In the afternoon, we decided to be a bit touristy and walk down the Champs-Elysees. We like to do this since there are always many things to see, and today was no exception. First of all, it was crowded with the French...http://travelswitherwinandalexandria.blogspot.com/2008/09/saturday-september-6-2008-usual-... (Untitled)- September 6, 2008 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2008We are getting to be creatures of habit. Mornings are lazy with a late breakfast and chores including Erwin's favorite past time, shopping at the market. This afternoon, we went off to explore the St Germain area a bit. We had some rain so we didn't get to do all we had wanted, but there is always tomorrow. We did make time to stop at Les Deux Magots (the legendary cafe across from the St Germain des Pres church) where Alexandria had what she says is the best hot...http://travelswitherwinandalexandria.blogspot.com/2008/09/friday-september-5-2008-we-are-g... A bit of laundry and shopping. In the afternoon, we went back to the Promenade Plantee (see Wednesday, August 27) and visited the section we did not see Wednesday of last week. So instead of going southeast, we went northwest. The part of the Promenade we visited is basically similar to the other half. However, what we did have was a wonderful view of our apartment. You can see it in the center with all of the flowers on the balcony, hence the name of.http://travelswitherwinandalexandria.blogspot.com/2008/09/thursday-september-4-2008-mornin... (Untitled)- September 4, 2008 WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2008Here we are, still without TV and Internet. About the only thing we watch on the TV is the news, but no Internet We did some laundry again today. It seems that we are doing laundry every other day but the machines here have a very small capacity. It takes 2 12 hours just to do two loads of personal laundry, plus another two loads of bedding and towels, both bath and kitchen. This does not include drying. Some we take to the local laundromat and others we dry in a...http://travelswitherwinandalexandria.blogspot.com/2008/09/wednesday-september-3-2008-here-... We had some coffee and chatted for an hour or so before going to lunch at one of our old haunts, a restaurant called...http://travelswitherwinandalexandria.blogspot.com/2008/09/tuesday-september-2-2008-today-w... A day of waiting. First, we were expecting a FEDEX package and were told it would arrive on Friday. We didnt dare leave for fear they would come with the package and no one would be there to sign for it. Alexandria did some laundry and took a few things to the laundromat for drying. Also, the TV and internet system were both out since Thursday evening. They both operate on the same modem..http://travelswitherwinandalexandria.blogspot.com/2008/09/friday-august-29-2008-not-much.h... |
