Hot Tip: Bebo Set to Announce Developer Platform Too - October 11, 2007

We've heard from a couple of reliable sources that social network Bebo is about to announce a developer platform very soon. Apparently it will be a "platform API". The source of these rumors is a Bebo investor, so we think it's on the mark. Bebo is one of the largest social networks in the world and is above MySpace and Facebook in some parts of the world (e.g. it is number 1 in the UK). Earlier this week we heard that MySpace will launch its 3rd party developer platform in just a few weeks....

InTrade Plays of the Day - October 11, 2007

Tyler Cowen recommends shorting Thompson: Friday I heard Fred Thompson talk for three minutes, he was so terrible I had to leave the room.... Most of all he has rotten diction (odd for a former actor), plus he had no idea what the market-oriented crowd wanted to hear. Sell short. Thompson's still trading at a respectable 20.1 to get the Republican nomination, so you can make some decent money with a short. Also worth a short from the Republican side: Ron Paul, who's...

Chris Matthews: Biased Maybe. Rude Oh, yes. - October 10, 2007

Was Chris Matthews the wrong guy for last night's debate of Republican presidential hopefuls Well, yes -- but not for the reasons you've been hearing all week. Fox News and its fellow-travelers have been waging war on Matthews, insisting the MSNBC host's recent comments about "criminality" within the Bush Administration exposed an anti-GOP bias. Bill O'Reilly misquoted Matthews, claiming he'd called the entire administration a "criminal enterprise," while Gretchen Carlson of Fox &...

Tom Friedman Tees Up Another One - October 10, 2007

Sometimes you can actually hear the exact moment when a Tom Friedman New York Times op-ed column becomes a Tom Friedman book proposal. If Generation Q doesn&39;t make it into a Barnes & Noble near you by Christmas 2009, I&39;ll eat my copy of The World Is Flat. Ask 37signals: How to escape the waterfall - October 1, 2007

Oliver writes: I become frustrated at trying to introduce more innovative methods of software development at the large IT consulting firm I work for. Are there any methods to trying to get 1980's waterfall lovers to even think of rapid development techniques as anything but silly crap suitable for start-ups but with not place in Real Development Companies (paraphrased), or should I just quit and find somebody more exciting to work for Most people fear change because they overestimate the...
