Medicaid cuts postponed for the developmentally disabled MICHIGAN - July 2, 2008

Potentially devastating cuts in benefits for the developmentally disabled have been postponed for now. On Monday, President George W. Bush signed into law a supplemental war spending bill that included a delay in the Medicaid cuts until April 1, 2009. The cuts would have gone into effect Tuesday.

Creature Comforts charity campaign UK - July 2, 2008

A charity is challenging negative assumptions about disability by using a new set of animated characters in an advert created by the Wallace and Gromit team. Creature Discomforts, which confronts public perceptions of disabled people, relationships and sex, is based on the plasticine characters created by Aardman Animations for their original Creature Comforts series.

Wheelchair user wants more curb ramps near his Serra Mesa home CALIFORNIA - July 2, 2008

Steve Hollinger likes to get to the bus stop and shopping mall near his home in Serra Mesa in his wheelchair, but there are so few curb ramps that Hollinger, a quadriplegic, has no choice but to ride in the street. "I've been in the street going around parked cars," he said.
