2500 Windows 7 employees broken up into 25 feature teams - August 19, 2008

When the Engineering Windows 7 blog (E7) launched last week, many were happy that Microsoft had finally opened up an official channel of communication between the Windows 7 team and the public. Still, few expected that anything seriously groundbreaking would be announced on E7 anytime soon, especially considering Steven Sinofsky, head of the Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group, was at the helm. Sinofsky is known for his "under promise and over deliver" attitude so it's no surprise that...

It's a Windows Window! Get It - August 19, 2008

The ultimate Microsoft fanboy concept, Fentres 3.1 (or the Windows Window as we're insisting on calling it) is a normal house window decorated with all of the accouterments of the classic Windows 3.1 OS (along with the placeholder background from Windows XP). Mozilla drags IE into the future with Canvas element plugin - August 19, 2008

IE's shortcomings won't hold back the Internet for much longer, however, because Mozilla plans to drag IE into the next generation of open web technologies without Microsoft's help. Microsoft hints at private browsing feature in IE - August 19, 2008

One of the most interesting feature that didnt quite make it into the final release of Firefox 3 is Private Browsing, a.k.a. porn mode. The only other browser with this feature built-in today is Safari (another reason to try it in case you havent), however, Microsoft may also be building a similar feature into Internet Explorer 8 if two trademark filings are any indications.

What do you do with a blog post that is so messed up that you cant even go in and edit it in order to fix it Thats my dilemma with my post from August 15 about Microsoft skipping over Windows Server 2008 R2 and proceeding direct to Windows 7 Server. After sending me a note that led me to believe that Microsoft had decided to veer from its original plan of an R2 update followed by a full-fledged Server update, a Microsoft spokeswoman called on August 18 to tell me that her note to me was...
