WASHINGTON - Jun 3008 - SNS -- Surging grower bids for dry edible beans are having no impact on growers in the United States, who now intend to plant 1.40 million acres in 2008, down slightly from the March 1 forecast and down 8% from 2007, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates.

WASHINGTON - Jun 3008 - SNS -- Combined inventories of field peas, lentils and chickpeas are significantly higher than this time last year because of a surge in the quantity of field peas still on hand as of June 1, according to the USDA.

AgCanada Concurs on Chickpea Area Hike - (Found July 8, 2008 )

VANCOUVER - Jul 408 - SNS -- In its latest monthly review of Canadian chickpeas Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg reports this year's seeded area will total 205,000 acres, up 30,000 from last month. Harvested area is forecast at 198,000 acres. It also forecast production for 2008 will total 105,000 MT, up 15,000 from last month's prediction.
