Purple Line Pros and Cons - July 18, 2008

The headline of the July 13 Metro article "Purple Line Foes Offer No Ideas, and No Names" was misleading, as was the article.

After all, the first award, a $30 billion contract to Boeing, was canceled when collusion between a Pentagon purchasing officer and Boeing was exposed. People went to prison for corrupt practices committed during that first bidding process.

As a 30-year D.C. resident who has been called numerous times for jury duty and served many times, I found a recent remark by the chief judge of the D.C. Superior Court to be unreasonable "D.C. Arrests Residents for Missing Jury Service," Metro, July 14.
