Amid the Sorrow, September Brings Hope for the Future - April 23, 2005

We had always planned to save the newspaper on the day our son was born. My husband and I figured something in the pages -- maybe a story about the president, a mention of a celebrity, photos of the day's fashions -- might someday give our child a sense of what life was like on that special day in 2001. We could not have imagined, though, the horrifying, historical moment captured in the newspaper I ultimately folded and slid into my baby's memory book.
