Accused killer of Albany 10-year-old apologizes in letter - June 17, 2008

The teenager charged with the murder of 10-year old Kathina Thomas allegedly apologized to the girl's mother in a letter filed this morning in Albany County Court. I am so sorry that the gun I shot is the gun that could have takeing your baby girl away from you. I dind't have any tention to hert your child. I cant say I know how you feel but I can say I'm very sorry. That bullet was not supose to hit her. All I want to say is that I am sorry. Please accept"

Plug estimates restructuring to cost $6.4M - June 17, 2008

Recent layoffs and a restructuring of Plug Power Inc. are expected to cost the company $6.4 million, according to information filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Albany, N.Y.-based fuel cell developer on June 10 laid off 80 employees to streamline general and administrative expenses. It also announced plans to cut a few executive positions, but did not release the names of those employees until Monday.

More commuters boarding CDTA buses - June 17, 2008

The skyrocketing price of gasoline has Capital Region residents finding another way to ride to work. There is no mistaking a trend developing on public transportation here in the last few months. It's standing room only on some CDTA routes -- and that has been a surprise even for CDTA executives. Some of the highest individual route ridership increases come from riders on the Northway express, where commuters can go from points in Saratoga County to Albany.

Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests - June 15, 2008

Albany State Police have arrested a 32 year old male for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance as a result of a traffic stop for speeding on the NYS Thruway early Saturday morning. Richard Attenbourough, of Moosic, Pennsylvania, was found to be in possession of one gram of cocaine. The subject was also wanted on bench warrants in the Town of Kingston and Columbia County.
