It is light controlled, all canned lighting on dimmers and blinds on two small windows. However, I do want to be able to watch programming during the day with verying degrees of light. Entire basement is painted in a camel color, with white drop tile ceiling. Looking for a "simple" Home Depot or Lowes color solution for this room. Screen size will be 88-92" sitting approximately 11' away. Thanks.http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1067291&goto=newpost The Absolutely Offical Wagner Control Spray Thread- September 16, 2008 Here is the venue for all those contemplatin' or already committed to spraying whatever DIY Paint using the Wagner Control Spray. It is my intention to "be there ready and in timely fashion" so as t be able to impart my own experience and learned methods to anyall who request such of me. The use of the Wagner CS is really quite simple and easy to master, but as in all such things"sprayed", where once you start and flub, you have real problems to deal with, I'm hoping that correct advice..http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1067093&goto=newpost Alternatives to Sheerweave 4500 material- September 16, 2008 I cannot seem to find Sheerweave 4500 locally. Is the 40004400 series a good substitute for the 4500 Getting it from SeymourAV is a bit costly as I'm not in good ole USA. ;)http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1067078&goto=newpost I read every thread before starting and...- September 15, 2008 I think I was more confused after I finished. This brief report is for people who are looking for a success story without having to read massive number of threads. I used MississippiMan's plan for laminate on MDF as a starting point. It is a very simple design that uses MDF as a substrate and is attached to a frame. I was originally going to mount laminate it to the wall using mirror clamps, but I saw a picture of rope lights behind the screen that looked awesome, so I changed to a frame...http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1066715&goto=newpost Looking for WilsonArt FG laminate in Bay Area, CA- September 12, 2008 Home depot says i have to make a minimum order of $350 worth to get any. The wilsonart website says there is a small place nearby that may sell it also so i will check it out as well. i need about a 4' x 8' piece - enough for a 92" diag screen. Currently have an Optoma 31 which I will use until the bulb goes, then will look to get a 1080p projector. That being said I dont want to really go with building a screen at this point. I would rather just paint my wall white (of some sort) and let the projector do the work. I did this at my old house and remember it looked pretty dam good. However because its been 3 years since I've had the projector hooked up, I'm starting to wonder...http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1065242&goto=newpost Thoughts on DIY options for a small screen setup- September 9, 2008 Although I've read through many, many posts in this DIY screens forum, I am still trying to determine where the best place to start would be for my setup. This screen is actually for a 2nd projector setup in my basement, which will be used exclusively for the Wii and for the kid to watch DVDs. The projector for this setup is an Optoma H31 (480p, 850 lumens - optimized around 325 lumens). I will be projecting a somewhat "small" image around 73" (64"x36"), so I was thinking a gray screen...http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1065020&goto=newpost Newb Projector Questions- September 9, 2008 I have posted some questions in the Planar Thread, I have not received any answers to multiple screen questions, so I thought I would post here... Ok, so I am leaning toward a DW DIY screen. since I can make it the correct size for the distance...( I am showing 109"diag...95 wide 13ft.) other factors notwithstanding... I dont want to deal with wrinkles and waves down the road. And it's not like the room is used for anything else at the time. Questions still on my mind: 1. And that was against a plain-jane white wall in the basement. So far, so good :) Next logical step is, of course, the screen. I have some questions but here is "the plan" as it stands now (I'm not woodworker, so this is pieced together research): 2x 1x4's (verticle pieces, chamfered) 2x 1x8's (horizontal pieces, chamfered) 4x L-brackets for additional...http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1064966&goto=newpost |
