White House Press Briefings

Press Briefings by the White House Press Secretary and other Administration officials.

Press Briefing by Dana Perino - 09152008 - September 15, 2008

MS. PERINO: Good afternoon. Obviously, one of the biggest stories of the day is what's happening in our financial market. Secretary Paulson has graciously given us some of his time today -- he doesn't have an endless supply of it, so please keep that in mind, and we'll try to let him answer as many questions as he can before he needs to go. And then I'll come back up and finish up the briefing.

Press Briefing by Dana Perino - 09102008 - September 10, 2008

MS. PERINO: A couple of announcements for you. The President had his briefings this morning. He is also, this afternoon, going to be meeting with the President of Iraq, President Talabani. I expect them to discuss a number of important issues that are in front of the Iraqi parliament now, including the provincial elections law. They will also likely discuss the improved security situation on the ground, as well as the ongoing talks regarding the strategic framework agreement.

Press Briefing by Dana Perino - 09092008 - September 9, 2008

MS. PERINO: Good morning. You just heard the President speak. Then he'll be going to lunch with the Secretary of the Interior and he'll meet some of the employees there, and then he will visit Walter Reed this afternoon. Scott Stanzel will be going on that trip with you, so check in with him if you have any questions on that.

Press Briefing by Dana Perino - 09082008 - September 8, 2008

MS. PERINO: Good morning. The President will make remarks at 1:10 p.m. today on the South Lawn, on volunteerism; a word about that. After 911, President Bush called on all Americans to serve their communities, their nation, and the world. In his 2002 State of the Union address he announced the creation of USA Freedom Corps, and also called for every American to commit at least two years -- which is 4,000 hours -- to the service of their neighbors and their nation.

Press Briefing by Dana Perino - 09052008 - September 5, 2008

MS. PERINO: Good morning. I have a few announcements for you. You saw the employment report released this morning, the loss of 84,000 jobs and an increase in the unemployment rate to 6.1 percent. There's no question that the labor market is not as strong as we'd like and these were disappointing numbers. We want to see the economy return to job growth and we understand that this is a difficult time for many Americans. We want everyone who wants to work to be able to find a job.

MS. PERINO: Good morning. As you know, President Bush has left for Camp David. He'll be there until Saturday morning.

Press Briefing by Dana Perino - 09022008 - September 2, 2008

MS. PERINO: We have a scheduling update. President Bush will address the GOP convention today, but from the White House. He'll do that from the Cross Hall in the 9:30 p.m. half hour. You'll have to call the convention and get the exact time on that. But he'll be able to address them today. It will be a shorter speech than was planned in the hall, but the entire convention is a little bit shorter.
