Carada & stretch question - September 20, 2008

Hi Guys.....2 questions: 1) Anyone have experience and happy or not with the Carada Masquerade setup or suggest something else that is reasonably priced 2) Anyone stretching a 16:9 broadcast on a 2:35 screen continuously and happy or not I watched a football game and it didn't seem that distorted but not sure if it would wear on me. Having a tough time deciding whether to mask or not mask a 2:35 screen. I would anticipate 70% 16:9 and 30% 2:35 viewing so want to be sure I do the right...

Finally Saw my first real 2:35:1 Anamorphic lens set up - September 19, 2008

....kinda. I say "kinda" because conditions weren't perfect, but still.... My local high end AV emporium (Bay Bloor Radio in Toronto) has re-done it's projection room. There are three different projection set ups, one of them being a new 130" diag 2:35:1 Stewart Firehawk screen, using an Epson 1080p projector (I don't know which model, but the salesguy said it wasn't one of the more expensive ones) and a Panamorph sledlens. I don't know which Panamorph model. I've played with the zoom...

World's First 2.35:1 TV - September 18, 2008

Some said it would never be made, but here it is world's first 2:35.1 TV http:www.avrev.comhome-theater-newsvideo-projector-screens-newsrunco-presents-the-cinewall-cw-95hd-in-wall-display.html. Though in reality, all it is is a masked version of their 100 inch 16:9 TV (do the math, a 95inch diagonal 2:35.1 image fits in 100inch 16:9 image). So really, if you are going to be using this in a room with ambient light, I'd assume you'd be watching a lot of 16:9 content. Therefore, since the...

lens shift question... - September 17, 2008

I know that keystone correction causes distortion and should be avoided...but how about lens shift I am in the process of setting up my ben q w5000 and have it mounted on a pole about 17 in. form an 8 ft ceiling. That was easy....whats not easy is getting my HTB lens(with thier sled) hung from the ceiling as well. This would be MUCH easier if I could just hang the PJ without the pole closer to the ceiling. SOOOOO.... Does using the lens shift degrade the image .

New RS2 with anamorphic lens - September 17, 2008

Just seen the announcement on the new RS2 (http:www.cybertheater.comjvc-upgrades-dla-rs2-projector). I've been thinking about a CIH setup but I'm hesitant due to the technical difficulties, integration issues, and high cost for a custom built system. Does a projector that has this capability already built-in provide an image comparable in quality to a custom built system (projector and lens from different vendors)

Current long throw 2.35 projector options please - September 15, 2008

Screen is a Stewart studiotek 130 120"D 110.5 inches wide. Throw is 263". Projector will be centered with screen LR and 6 inches or so below the top of the screen. I would like to stay at or under the price of a Marantz 11s2. I can only find the new Panasonic 3000 using the zoom method. According to Cine4hoom preview, this projector will go out to 24ft in 2.35 with my screen size without using an anamorphic lens. Anything else out there I may be missing
