Wolf Paulus' Web Journalwolfpaulus.comTurning the Web on its head - let's have the server call the client- June 23, 2008 Code Camp is not just for geeks, hackers, and code monkeys; and while you may find some of them at UC San Diego on June 28 and 29, Code Camp is first and foremost a place for software developers to come together, share ideas and experiences, and learn from their peers. This will be my 2nd San Diego Code Camp, which compared to the Code Camp up North at Cal State Fullerton, is much more focused on Microsoft and .net related technologies. However, I'm still hopeful that this topic will fill a..http://wolfpaulus.com/journal/java/ccfsandiego08.html WWDC 2008 - Final Thoughts- June 16, 2008 I was in NYC, seeing the long lines going around the block the 5th Ave. Apple store, when the iPhone was launched in June 2007. People couldn't wait, getting their hands on the beautiful mobile phone, the one with the best user interface, and the only one with a useable Web browser. This year I was in San Fran. at Apple's worldwide developers conference, WWDC 2008, when the iPhone 3G was announced. In 2007 Apple launched a new product-line. In 2008, a new platform was born, already used by...http://wolfpaulus.com/journal/opinion/wwdc08final.html What's really in those containers full of boxes- June 13, 2008 Since the iPhone 3G launch is now confirmed for July 11, is it really iPhones, what is those 188 mysterious ocean containers The following observations could also point to new a 16:9 17.3" MacBook Pro. If you were looking for a 2nd generation iPhone, then maybe the announced, $199 8GB iPhone 2.0 was the most important news of the day. However, I don't think you will saving any money. ATT is subsidizing the iPhone even more now, but will also raise your monthly fees to $79...http://wolfpaulus.com/journal/mac-osx/GrandCentral.html Just trying to keep larger numbers in perspective- June 7, 2008 Sometimes it's hard to keep perspective and since the Democrats seem to be asking for another Economic Stimulus Package, I was wondering how much the 1st one was. I thought, I'd compare it to the cost of the Iraq War - not the whole thing, just to the new, additional spending request, and just for this year. The President just made a $178 billion war spending request, $135 billion is dedicated to the Iraq War, with $84 billion allocated for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2008 and $52 billion...http://wolfpaulus.com/journal/opinion/perspective.html Fantastic Prints- June 3, 2008 Way back, when sharing photos on the Web became popular, many new users were attracted to the Internet by the convenience and immediate availability of the digital photographs. Over the years, starting with ofoto, which later become Kodak Gallery, I have tried many related services and tools. More recently, I have used an Adobe-Flash based plugin for hosting photos directly on my site and also published quite a few shots on flickr. Today, I'm happy to announce the availability of...http://wolfpaulus.com/journal/photography/pprints.html |
