SUPERIOR - There are a little more than 3,000 people in the 1.9 square miles that make up Superior.The town, about an hour east of the Valley, was once a booming mining community, boasting a bustling town center and claiming to have visitors like Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp.

Healthy Families Program Helps Pinal County - April 19, 2008

More than 406 children have a healthier future because their mother or father took advantage of the Pinal County Health District's Healthy Families Program. The program is a successful, voluntary program serving families at risk during pregnancy and after the birth of a baby. Over the years, Pinal County has expanded the program to reach even more families, including those who live on the reservations.

Resolution Copper Awards School Grant - April 18, 2008

Resolution Copper awarded Jodi Luna, third grade teacher at Copper Rim Elementary, $2,500 in grant money for a unit of Life Science titled "It's a Frog's Life." snip Several other communities besides Globe are eligible for the grant money including Miami, Superior, Kearny, Hayden, Winkelman, Apache Junction and Gold Canyon.

Residents, visitors...turn out in great numbers for festival frolic and to honor town tradition - April 10, 2008

Three days of fun, food, family and Superior tradition played out in perfect harmony and perfect weather in the streets of downtown last weekend.The occasion was the Superior Chamber of Commerce's 20th Annual Apache Leap Mining Festival that ran March 28-29, filling the area with the sound of music, dancing, mining competition events, the whoosh of colorful carnival rides parked this year in the middle of Main Street and just a whole lot of people having a good time.
