Imaging the CosmosOn Thursday night, Shemp and I were treated to a night of very good transparency and at times - exceptional atmospheric stability. Normally, a day the hits the 90's F isn't good for anything but swarms of mosquitoes - but this wasn't the case. Instead of nasty summer haze - the skies were very clear and in the wee hours of the morning the Milky way was very striking. Looking for Telescope Advice - June 3, 2008

Greetings, fellow travelersI'm a very amateur astronomer from southeast Wisconsin. By "very amateur" I mean that I'm able to identify 4 constellations, and name about as many stars.Despite my limited familiarity ability to remember what's what in the night sky, I've always been enamored by the cosmos. I had a cheap telescope when I was a young teenager, but it wasn't very powerful and it was difficult to find objects.Now, though, I'm looking to buy a decent telescope that I hope will show me..
