But I couldn't resist linking to a developer interview with Austin Haas of Pet Tomato, since it includes this exchange: In the alpha discussion, it was often suggested that you should have a UI gauge to show your fart fuel. Can you elaborate on why you chose not to implement this Simplicity. Im still not sure about it, though. Lately, Ive considered the idea of having him fade-inout and sweat a little to indicate...http://xach.livejournal.com/175304.html new salza2- June 17, 2008 I released a new version of salza2, my library for creating compressed data in the deflatezlibgzip formats. Previous versions had a bug when writing the checksum when the output of the checksum started on or crossed the 4096-octet output mark. This didn't happen very often for me; I write thousands of PNGs per day with Wigflip, but I've only seen it happen a handful of times. I was going a little batty because libpng would barf on certain PNGs but Lisp decompression software ...http://xach.livejournal.com/175010.html PAID $5000 ASKING $4900- June 17, 2008 One of my little pleasures in life is reading through classified ads (from various places) and finding absurd technology listings. 2 YEAR OLD PACKARD BELL - PAID $3000, ASKING $2500 OR BEST OFFER 512 MEGA BYTE MEMORY CARD - PAID $90, $60 FIRM LIKE NEW DIGITAL CAMERA - 3 MEGA PIXELS - $900 People must really hate to face the fact that technology and gadget prices plummet so quickly.http://xach.livejournal.com/174764.html bad, old joke- June 10, 2008 I've started a company, Tates, that manufactures GPS units that always give the wrong position. Because, as you know, he who has a Tates is lost.http://xach.livejournal.com/174447.html Building my own SBCL on Debian 4.0- June 7, 2008 I usually build SBCL from source, but on a new installation, I need something from which to bootstrap. On Debian 4.0, that was trickier than I expected. I think the official debian SBCL package, 0.9.16, is too old to build CVS. (I might be wrong; I didn't try it.) The x86-64 binary of 1.0.17 on the download page was built with glibc 2.4, but Debian 4.0 includes glibc 2.3. The runtime failed to start as a result. Fortunately, the SourceForge SBCL download page has older...http://xach.livejournal.com/174077.html May Lisp meeting recaps, June Lisp meeting schedule- June 5, 2008 There were a lot of Lisp meetings in May.
