Review : Guitar Hero : On Tour for the Nintendo DS - June 24, 2008

Rating : 91% Rocks Pretty Darn Hard! On monday I rushed out the store to get my copy of Guitar Hero : On Tour for the Nintendo DS. It's an original Guitar Hero game built for a guitar like controller with four strut buttons that snaps into the Gameboy Advance cartridge port on the Nintendo DS Lite. The controller is held in place by a strap and house a detachable guitar pick stylus. You hold the Nintendo DS on it's side and grasp the back of the guitar controller with your left hand on...

Call of Duty : World at War looks like a lot more than just a WW2 game - June 24, 2008

Normally I don't get excited bout first person shooters set in world-war two but there is something about the Call of Duty : World At War in the Japanese pacific theater that I just know is going to make a sweet game. I had one grandfather that fought for the US in Europe and another that fought for the US in the Pacific. I know shooting virtual Nazis and Fascists almost never gets dull but it this trailer sent shivers up my spine. As a world war 2 game based on the new Call of Duty 4 engine...

Kids Totally Love Nintendo DS - June 23, 2008

This past weekend we bought a little girl a Nintendo DS and it put a smile on our faces. A friend of my girlfriend has a little sister named Minty who is turning nine this week. My girlfriend is an aunt to her. Her parents are extremely unlikely to get her anything nice for her birthday. She did a great job in school this year. She loves playing the Pokemon collectible card game with her older sister and has played the original GameBoy game to death on an old Gameboy Pocket. It sort of...

Read the Manuals Before you buy Tech gear - June 20, 2008

I just mailed off a network storage server that I purchased last week. I got it on Monday but the technical documentation was so bad and the tech support so vacant that I was not able to get the thing working with my router and network. I deal with these kind of tech issues on a daily basis and I used all the resources of the net to help me figure out what ports it wanted me to forward and where. Bah! So I am getting a refund minus a 15% restocking fee and shipping both ways. I went off on a...

I Really Suck at Rockband Drums - June 19, 2008

I have a confession to make. Sigh. Here it is. I really suck at Rockband drums so bad that I am thinking about selling my drum kit. I am awesome at guitar and I totally rock the mic but I just can't get any traction with the drums. Plus I am getting sick of having to maneuver around it so I am tempted to trade my Xbox 360 Rockband drum kit in at Game Crazy. I just wrote my first roller derby related press release and look forward to playing video games and writing about them. Is this a...

Opus Zombie Xbox 360 Starting to Appear. Hungry for games, brains - June 18, 2008

Xbox 360 fanboy has gotten word of another spotting of an Opus motherboard based Xbox 360 out in the wild. They even stuck with my zombie meme. Awesome.

Should Xbox Live get a Price Cut - June 17, 2008

It pretty much expected that over the cost of a videogame life cycle that the price of hardware and software will drop over time. The cost of network access has dropped over the last years. However the Xbox Live service is over five years now and it is still pretty much the same price as it was when it started. It was pretty spiffy when they created the silver accounts for free when the Xbox 360 launched and tiered approach helped distribute demos, videos and software updates. But how many...

Tasty Links for June 16th : Waggle Xbox Avatars With Singing Lips Edition - June 16, 2008

If these NeoGAF leaks are accurate it looks like Microsoft might be unveiling their own version of the Wiimote, SingStar, and Mii at E3. Also I should just point out that Nintendo did not invent the concept of the flying mouse and 3d online avatars and Sony did not invent music singing games. Nice to see that I am not the only one who thinks that Microsoft "Lips" accessory was going to be a wireless microphone for singing games. I hope it works with RockBand. Source: 'Avatars' to be...

Possible Opus Motherboard Xbox 360 Spotted - June 13, 2008

Ive gotten word from Xbox Live user xD157UR83Dx who think that he has an Opus motherboard based Xbox 360 on his hand. His Xenon motherboard based Xbox 360 gave him the Red Ring of Death Core Digital error and died on him about two weeks ago. So he shipped it off and a week later he got a newer Xbox 360 with a manufacturing date of 2006-2009 (that is what he said the labels said, he might send us a photo). His new post RnR Xbox 360 had a much quieter DVD drive and a much cooler and quieter fan..

Review : Aces of the Galaxy for Xbox Live Arcade - June 12, 2008

Rating : 88% Pretty Darn Good Artech Studios, made a pretty darn good action packed Xbox Live Arcade game. Aces of the Galaxy is well put together action packed 3d space shoot'em up game. It's a bit surprising considering their previous XBLA game was Boogie Bunnies. It is pretty obviously influenced by Star Fox on the Super Nintendo and N-64 and I was not surprised to hear that brought up by one of the games producers on Major Nelson's Podcast. The play control feels a lot like Star Fox...
