THE END OF ANGER MANAGEMENT - September 19, 2005

I am sorry to announce that this will be my last post on Anger Management. As you all know, I recently started a new job, a new magazine, and classes with the Objectivist Academic Center. Unlike my previous job, I will not have time at work to blog, and trying to make time for blogging in the remaining hours of the day, when I could be working on more formal (and profitable!) writing assignments, would constitute a sacrifice on my part. But let's be honest. I could never cease blogging...

HORIZONS - September 19, 2005

Let me start by thanking Gideon Reich, who in the comments of the previous post wrote: It seems that to begin with, Axiomatic will be the usual pamphlet-size of other Objectivist-oriented publications. I had this great hope to one day see such a publication have the size of Commentary Magazine. For a while I thought TIA would do that but with their publication schedule so far behind I have pretty much given up on them. Do you think if Axiomatic becomes a success, you could eventually increase...

MY PSYCHO-EPISTEMOLOGY - September 16, 2005

As most of you probably already know, the site for Axiomatic is up and running. Keep in mind that the articles won't be posted until October 1st. Then, or perhaps a few days prior, you will be able to subscribe through the site using either PayPal or a credit card, or you can send a check through the mail (but please don't do that unless you absolutely must!) In any case, the articles are almost done, including my work on risk and decision-making. As I was writing that article, I spent a lot of.

THIS JUST IN... - September 16, 2005

I have some very important...and very exciting...news concerning this blog. Unfortunately, I'm on my way out the door to work, so it will have to wait until later. (Sinister grin) Stay tuned......

AXIOMATIC: HELP WANTED - September 9, 2005

A couple things... First, I'm now accepting submissions for the second issue of Axiomatic. If you're interested, please send me an email at axiomaticmagazinegmail.com. (I'm especially interested in having an Objectivist who has strong background in economics either write or co-write with me an article on some of the fundamental flaws in both neo-classical and Austrian economics.) Second, my article for that issue will address empricism and rationalism as destroying one's ability to grasp the...

RIGHTS IN AN EMERGENCY - September 8, 2005

In response to this post, Diana Hsieh wrote: Don, you wrote: "It is proper to do what you have to do in order to survive, but if that involves violating someone's rights, then once you have weathered the emergency, you owe them the appropriate restitution." As far as I understand, the proper formulation is that rights don't apply in the context of a genuine life-threatening emergency, not that they may be violated. (Or at least they don't apply in the usual way.) I cant speak with any.

MOVING ON - September 7, 2005

I have just taken a new job with a new company. This is both a blessing...and possibly a curse. The blessing is that I will be in a better work environment, my job will be more suited to my strengths and experience, and the pay will be significantly better. The curse is that, unlike my present job, I will not be able to spend most of the day blogging. Given that most of my free time is devoted to Axiomatic, I don't know where that leaves Anger Management. Only time will tell. My intention right.

STATE OF THE AYN RAND INSTITUTE - September 7, 2005

David and I made it to Philly last night for Yaron Brook's "State of ARI" talk, which was absolutely fabulous. Thanks to everyone who reads the blog for saying hello. It was a pleasure meeting all of you. After the lecture, David and I went out with one my readers and Mike from Passing Thoughts. We had some great conversation, some not-so-great food service, and I got to take a look at my future campus. All in all, it was a great trip....
