Many area schools able to hold classes - January 30, 2008

"Should school be closed we've got an emergency phone tree. We let the radio station know as soon as possible. Once we have (students at school) it's really hard to send them home again." Though Tuesday morning's low-elevation snowstorms made for a wet drive for many area commuters, many local schools were still in session. via Ukiah Daily Journal

County closes animal shelter temporarily - January 4, 2008

"I asked Bliss Fisher to call Ray Arnold so there were no surprises and also so you could organize any rescues that you want" On Dec. 20, the newspaper reported the county had presented emergency evacuation plans to staff and volunteers of the Fort Bragg animal shelter. via Mendocino Beacon
