Pasting repository info on CPAN page - August 13, 2008

Out of the comments generated by a post by grink, I've learned that the location of the distribution's repository can be inserted in the META.yml. Neato! And when grink asked if someone could come up with a Greasemonkey script to extract that information and show it on the distro's page... well, that's no simian fun I could let pass untackled. The resulting greasemonkey script can be found on userscripts.org.Read more of this story at use Perl.

Parallel tests for the win - August 9, 2008

Test::Harness 3 has the ability to run regression tests in parallel. Until recently, in parallel mode, it would treat all tests as being in one pool, and choose any order of running tests, to maintain the desired number of jobs running concurrently. This is certainly KISS-approved, and useful if any arbitrary pair of your tests can run simultaneously without tripping over each other, due to using the same resources, such as test databases or temporary files. However, some distributions have...

Yet another Russian translation of brian's guide - August 8, 2008

Anatoly Sharifulin, the leader of RostovOnDon.pm, has translated brian's guide on solving any Perl problem into Russian. We've published it in both HTML and POD versions. This translation is very close to the original text, and a couple of items are translated quite interesting. First, the The Daily Show with Jon Stewart was localized with Russian TV-reality. Second, several occurences of noun "master" (a word, which has no suitable direct translation) was translated with a word "guru", which...
