Sony BMG wins appeal of merger veto at top EU court - July 11, 2008

'Watching Airplanes' writers say being 'hot' feels normal - July 11, 2008

It's been about five months since Gary Allan took the Jonathan Singleton- and Jim Beavers-penned song "Watching Airplanes" to the top of the Country Aircheck chart, but more than 100 of Singleton's friends, associates and family members turned out this week to celebrate the song's success during a party at ASCAP. (BMI hosted a party for Jim Beavers in March.)

Union says Toby Keith film is slighting musicians - July 11, 2008

The makers of the movie Beer For My Horses which is being made by a music network, stars Toby Keith and features at least two Country Music Hall of Famers have not signed the musician union's standard contract that would enable session musicians to receive payment from DVD sales, said the president of the Nashville Association of Musicians.

BMI celebrates 'Ten out of Tenn' CD, tour - July 11, 2008

BMI hosted a party for the upcoming Ten out of Tenn, Volume 2 compilation CD and concert tour Wednesday afternoon. Tenn features 10 tracks from 10 Nashville-based poprock singer-songwriters, including Jeremy Lister, Griffin House and Erin McCarley. BMI director of writerpublisher relations Jody Williams, Tenn co-creators Trent and Kristen Dabbs and the album's artists were among those in attendance.
