I like this new podcasting API from BlogTalkRadio - February 19, 2008

Since my phone number is already public, I'm looking forward to using the new BlogTalk Radio Podcast API that Dave Winer discussed yesterday. Holy donuts is this cool. Here's my feed: feed:cinch.blogtalkradio.com4252051921 I called the magic number and it automatically recorded a podcast from my phone and put it on this feed. No work, no muss. Really easy way to record a podcast and have it waiting for you when you get home. Tags: feed podcast phone number blogtalkradio

The simplest podcast API ever - February 19, 2008

A new service from BlogTalkRadio... Call their special phone number: 646-200-0000. It records the call. When you're done it creates an RSS 2.0 feed with an enclosure that's an MP3 of the call. The address of the feed is a function of the phone number you called from. I just called in a podcast from my Nokia N95, which they added to this feed: http:cinch.blogtalkradio.com8583429663 That's all there is to it! No registration. They have a web page for it, but it's completely unnecessary. It's...

The Story Hillary Didn't Want You to Read - February 14, 2008

Hillary Clinton's fearsome press operation may be able to get a story pulled, but they can't keep it out of print altogether. Back in September, GQ killed a piece by Josh Green on the Clinton campaign's internal struggles, allegedly to avoid missing out on a cover shoot with Bill Clinton. Now, The Atlantic has published an article that Green says incorporates much of his original reporting -- along with fresher material about the decision to replace campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle. In...

Comment of the Day: OpenSocial is a "Social Cloud" For Developers, Not Users - February 13, 2008

Our second daily Comments Competition winner is theharmonyguy, for an insightful explanation of Googler Kevin Marks' "Social Cloud" theory. Congratulations theharmonyguy, you've won a $30 Amazon voucher, courtesy of our competition sponsors AdaptiveBlue and their Amazon WishList Widget. theharmony guy argued that both OpenSocial and Facebook are "mainly creating a cloud for developers, not users." Twittershare Brings File Sharing to Twitter - February 13, 2008

I love Twitter but even when it's not down it's got its limitations. Enter the API and a world of developers eager to engage with the active community of Twitter users. Twittershare is the newest truly useful development on top of Twitter; it lets you easily share files of up to 10mb in size. Mac users can upload and post with a desktop widget, everyone can use the web interface and a cross-platform AIR app is forthcoming. Twittershare was built by a web design shop called Phoreo, sassy..

Setting Twitterific (Power User) Preferences - February 12, 2008

So I have been using Twitterific for a while (yes, I am a registered user) but I'll be honest and tell you that I've always been somewhat annoyed with how it displays full usernames (Mike Marusin) rather than ScreenNames (marusin). Low and behold, there are a ton of Power User Preferences that can be done through the command line for version 3.1 (I'm running 3.1b3 -> direct download link) From the Twitterific ReadMe file: Power User Preferences The following list shows preferences that...

Paper Owner Stands Behind 'Racist' Writer, Sorta - February 12, 2008

The Long Island columnist who penned a race-baiting spoof of Barack Obama isn't off the hook yet. Over the weekend, Hamptons residents convened at a town hall-style meeting to call for firing of Rick Murphy, editor in chief of the Independent and author of the Obama column, and a similar one about Hillary Clinton that angered gays and lesbians. Jerry Della Femina, who owns the Independent, told me a few days ago that Murphy will be allowed to keep his job. "Obviously, he's on a short leash...

MSFT: We Reserve the Right... - February 12, 2008

I dunno. This all seems like kabuki to me. I'm rapidly falling toward finding this uninteresting, but...here's Microsoft's response to Yahoo rejecting its bid: MICROSOFT RESPONDS TO YAHOO!
