A Win is a Win - February 24, 2008

Setting off down the M4 Friday afternoon I had mixed emotions. Five wins on the bounce produces its own pressure, especially against a side you are &145;supposed&146; to beat. The four day turn-round after Sunday&146;s matc, the reaction after beating the Tigers in a match where it felt that we had &145;come of age&146;.

A Game of Four Quarters - February 20, 2008

The kick off was delayed as, in spite of reminders on the message board, the under soil heating had not been sufficiently monitored. The switch had tripped and the area in front of the South Stand was hard. The game eventually began at 1.45pm and was preceded by a minute's silence for former LI player Pierre Durant who had died in his native south Africa.

An end to tradition - February 17, 2008

The London Double Header is the, now traditional, opener to the season and sees the four "London-based" teams meet in a festival of rugby. Another tradition has been Irish beating Quins (or their replacement) leaving the Irish horde to go home happy. Some people are terrible at observing traditions...

Here come the budgies! - February 17, 2008

After first-game disappointment last week, Irish turn their attention to the first home-game of the 20078 season - Newcastle Falcons. The men from the North have every right to make the trip full of confidence following their first-week demolitiion of Sale Sharks.

Ireland 19 - 0 England - February 17, 2008

It was nice to see some old faces back at the Hotel bar before the game. After a bit of shopping in a very busy Megastore I took my borrowed seat in the West Stand, courtesy of Mary and Glen, who could not come to the game as they are going to a rugby tournament that is happening in France at the moment.

Irish or Ireland - February 17, 2008

It's funny that most people, Brian Smith included, came away from last week's win disappointed. It's completely understandable, Irish dominated every part of the game against Newcastle but only came away 19 points clear, no try BP seemed to be an opportunity missed.

Home desire holds Irish - February 17, 2008

Sadly, we didn't have a match-reporter this week. A mix-up prevented me letting Aitor (Props Are Not Stupid) know his offer to repeat his Newcastle reporting duties was taken-up. I've put this together from what I rememeber of the commentary alongside the fabulous notes taken by Bisach and others on the match thread. It's probably wildly innacurate but at least it's a report of sorts.

Don't forget your loofah! - February 17, 2008

Bath night ! An evening of terror for adolescent boys. Given Irish's Friday Night form, so far a night of terror for Irish fans too. Irish played their first Friday evening fixtures at the Madejski last year and, while they were interesting evenings, they managed three losses from three games.

I Dont Feel Like Dancing - February 17, 2008

London Irish were comfortably beaten by a severely depleted Wasps side on Sunday at Adams Park. Wasps had no fewer than eight major players out &150; and what players. Lewsey, Sackey, Ibanez, Rees, Shaw, Vickery, Worsley and one L. Dallaglio all showed a disappointing lack of commitment to their club, by swanning off to some jolly in France.
