Injured man doesn't recall push into mining pit - May 28, 2008

A man who authorities say was pushed into the darkness of a Coaldale strip mine pit hundreds of feet deep by an acquaintance as they walked along it on an April night doesn't remember what happened, his mother said Tuesday.But testimony from Nathan Bowman, 23, of Tamaqua wasn't needed, as the man accused of pushing him, Richard D. George, waived a preliminary hearing on felony aggravated assault, simple assault, obstructing emergency service, reckless endangerment and defiant trespass charges.
