The Oliver Project

Oliver Deighton's perspective. To be taken or left.

Phish Photos - August 30, 2004

I thought I'd share some photos of the aquarium that came to be out of the ashes of the amphibians. Unfortunately, shortly after these photos were taken the tank came down with a case of Ich -- a common parasitic infection -- probably due to the fact that the tank is new and not established. I will let you know if I fail to save the fish. For now, revel in their glory:

Greekland VS. Americaville - August 20, 2004

My friend forwarded me the following: "To fit with the change of events, words, too, had to change their usual meaning. What used to be described as a thoughtless act of aggression was now regarded as the courage one would expect in a party member; to think of the future and wait was merely another way of saying one was a coward; any idea of moderation was just an attempt to disguise one's unmanly character; ability to understand a question from all sides meant that one was totally unfitted...

Today - August 20, 2004

Turning the Corner - August 3, 2004

If I turned the corner I might happen upon a ranch, and maybe Bush is there, with tools and horses, and he might have a televison crew, and they might happen to be recording. Should I then be so surprised to see Bush at his ranch sandwhiched between an ad for Bowflex and one for Pampers No. I don't think so. In fact, you can turn the corner right now. Check out Bush in rare form at whitehousewest.com

Blast from the Past - August 2, 2004

Today I was visited, via the bits and bytes of the Internet, by an old friend. Last I heard from said friend was about 5 years ago. Along came an email, and attached was a picture circa 1994. According to the old friend, this picture is of our old band, AYA, (and some friends from out of town) the night we headlined our local venue, Off the Alley, for the first time. I'm in the purple, with the hair, sporting the latest in thrift store fashions and Sally Beauty Supply bleaching products. I..
