/dev/nullCameron PurdyOverstock.com Divulges Secret to Its Cyber Monday Success- November 29, 2007 Somebody sent me an article called "Overstock.com Divulges Secret to Its Cyber Monday Success". After some recent and very oddly misleading articles about what technologies (e.g. "not Java") large-scale web sites actually use, it was nice to see this: CEO Patrick Byrne credits the success of his new Web site to a move away from offshore outsourcing and the investment in "expensive" Java developers. We've known about the trend to move large-scale web sites to Java. For example in the past...http://www.jroller.com/cpurdy/entry/overstock_com_divulges_secret_to Worst of the Rest- November 15, 2007 You may have noticed that I pulled a blog entry off of my blog yesterday, titled "Best of the Rest". Why Well, one of the vendors that fell into "the Rest" category apparently didn't want the world to know that they were beat so soundly by Coherence, although this seems to happen with clock-like precision in every account that we encounter them in. In the morning, I was on a panel discussing scalability, and in the afternoon I presented on Oracle Coherence, and on "The Top 10 Ways to Botch Java EE Scalability and Reliability." Tonight, assuming my now-two-hour-delayed flight ever gets out of San Francisco, I will be speaking at the Orange County (close to LA) Java User Group. Next week I will be at Oracle OpenWorld, here in San Francisco. I will be in the Intel keynote, and on Wednesday.http://www.jroller.com/cpurdy/entry/conferences_and_jugs_in_november |
