London, June 7 - May 29, 2007

The next London CHUG (now renamed "LCUG" to be politically correct) is on June 7. The last event was packed to capacity, so register early. We're double-teaming with Jon & Jon for the June 7 event :-)

Memorial Day - May 28, 2007

Churchill, in a speech to Parliament, gave the now-famous line, "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." What few people realize today is that the war was still being fought at the time of the speech, and there were many losses yet to come. So, what would Mark Fleury do - May 17, 2007

Geesh -- I got poor Mark's knickers in a twist again over some harmless comments on TSS. I'm not going to even try to defend myself, but at least he gave me a goal: Son, you have been there eight weeks. Come back to us several months down the road. Dropped by the GroovyGrails "party", which was really more like a serious academic university than a party. Realizing that, I ditched and headed off to Kate's (Irish bar) to meet up with James "Active" Strachan, who was badly jet-lagged, and droning about dromedaries or camels or some such. We headed back to the Thirsty Bear for a...

JavaOne, here I come! - May 4, 2007

JavaOne 2007. Wow, it's hard to believe that ten years ago (1997, way back in the dark days of the "second millennium"), I went to my first JavaOne. The Moscone center was still under construction, and Java (version 1.0.2) still meant "applet" and was still synonymous with "slow" and "Javascript". Java has come a long way in the ten+ years I've been playing with it. I've gotten to do some coding again recently (some pet projects for Coherence), and I'm having a blast. I think the thing that...
